Eventually a day was devoted to women called International Women's Day or IWD.  Many rallies were held on this day.  In Melbourne 1,500-2,000 marched from City Square to the Treasury Gardens.  In Canberra feminists sang songs and made speeches at Petrie Plake.  In Brisbane they didn't have a march but, Women's' groups met to debate ''Which Way to Liberation?''  With all the demonstrations police were everywhere and many were arrested.  Some, though, were peaceful and sat around and shared stories that had never been told before.  Many thought it was a very successful day.
