During the 1970's there were many feminist speakers.  One of those speakers was Bella Abzug.  Bella Abzug was born in New York City on July 24, 1920.  She was a civil rights lawyer who first received national attention when she organized 'Women's Strike for Peace' in 1961.  Abzug was quoted saying, ''We may not have been at the last [supper] but you can be damn sure we're gonna be at the next one.''  She helped found 1968 New Democratic Coalition and was elected to the House of Representatives in 1970.  Abzug unsuccessfully ran for a Senate seat and for mayor of New York City.
