In 1940 a police official came up with the idea to create police battalions to follow behind the armies and kill all the Jews in captured cities. every battalions had around 500 men in it. Just these battalions were responsible for nearly 3.5 million Jew's deaths. 1942 there was around 20 battalions. |

In 1943-1945 the Gestapo had 40,000-50,000 employees. These
men were divided into 5 smaller sections here are the responsibilities the
different sections had. A dealt with opponents ,sabotage, and protection. B
dealt with political churches, sects, and Jews. C was responsible for
custody, and matters of press and party. D controlled regions under greater
German influence. E controlled security. F transportation and alien police. |
For the Gestapo there were no rules. The thing that made the Gestapo so powerful was the bill of 1935 known as the Schutzhaft. It let them do whatever they pleased. A bill was passed that stated if anyone was arrested by the Gestapo their only right to trial was an appeal to a higher ranked Gestapo. The Gestapo had a motto " if you say nothing no harm would come to you." |
The year the Gestapa became the Gestapo was the year the first Death Camps were created. Here are some usual reasons people got arrested and/or sent to Death Camps. His/ Her attitude endangered the people in the state, working with a resistance group, being Jewish/Polish, refusal to work, loafing on the job, defeatist statements, religious propaganda, sexual intercourse with a Pole or Jew, and their are probably many more. Heinrich Himmler recorded that 2,000,000 Jews were shot to death, this excludes the 4 million sent to be annihilated at death camps. |
Conclusion: I feel sorry for all the Jews killed by the Gestapo. But yet, I'm surprised the number of Jews there was how come their weren't more revolts. The Gestapo had all the power over Germany. But the enemy came and the Gestapo were almost no help to Germany. |
