Adolf Hitler was a kid who was really attached to his mother.  He was born on April 20, 1889.  When she died he ran away at age 18.  When he was a little older he joined the army.  He was a smart guy.  Hitler decided to try for dictator. He lost  the first time but the second time he succeeded.  That's when everything went wrong.  He called the army the Nazis.   He was a racist.  He only liked his people, he hated Jews.

In November of 1941, Reinhard Heydrich, head of Reich Main Secretary Office, sent out invitations for the Wannsee Conference.  There they discussed everything and made the "Final Solution". This was Hitler's dream of killing all the Jews.  The Final Solution was made to genocide the Jews.  Hitler made the "SS", which was a kind of like a police force only they went all over Europe to find the Jews.  Then Hitler made the Jews where "yellow stars".  Jews then had curfews and had to go to stores or movie theaters that were owned by Jews.  The SS would go into every house with Jews in it and find the Jews and have them sent to concentration camps. There were tons of concentration camps and ghettos.  After that the Jews would be sent to extermination camps.

Auschwitz was the biggest extermination camp.  All over Europe they would send Jews to Auschwitz.
In Treblinka, extermination amp, there was a zoo built by the Jewish workers in 1943.  In some extermination camps people were forced to dig their own graves right before they were executed.  The SS would go on death marches and raids and kill a thousand Jews, Gypsies, and Slavs.  When they went on death marches you might not get killed , but you would get beaten so bad , as a result of it you would die later on.

There were six extermination camps, Chelmo, Treblinka, Belzec, Sobibor, Auschwitz, and Majdanek.  Auschwitz, being the biggest , could accommodate two thousand Jews in the gas chambers at a time.

Rudolf Hoss, the camp commander, Described the inner works of Auschwitz:  "When I set up the extermination building at Auschwitz, I used Zyclon B, which was a crystallized prussic acid which we dropped into the death-chamber, depending on climatic conditions. We knew when the people were dead, because their screaming stopped.  We usually waited for half-an-hour before we opened the doors and removed the bodies.  After the bodies were removed our special commandos [Sonderkommandos, made up of prisoners who were partially trusted]  took of the rings and extracted the gold teeth of the corpses."
On a typical day, the SS would greet the Jews and select the fittest and best-conditioned for forced labor.
The Jews weren't the only people the Nazis killed, they also killed Gypsies, Slavs, and Government officials.  The SS would humiliate the Jews by beating them, cutting their beards, and teasing them.
On May 27, 1942 Reinhard Heydrich was wounded when a bomb was thrown under his car by two Czech agents.  He later died from his wounds on June 4, 1942.  After he died, in memory of him, they made Operation Reinhard. In this, the Nazis made three more extermination camps.  They were Belzec, Sobibor, and Treblinka.  These camps killed over two-million Jews.
The other camps Chelmo, Auschwitz, and Majdanek killed over four-million Jews.  After they had killed approximately six- million and after every country had heard about what they were doing, the countries started to invade Europe, Germany went down hill from there.  Hitler committed suicide and also did Himmler.  Before they committed suicide, they had all the Nazis try to hide their extermination camps by blowing up the crematoriums, gas chambers, and everything else.  However they didn't succeed in doing this.  The Allies invaded and found the remains.  Some are still standing today as a reminder of Hitler's "Final Solution".
