At the end of the war he made an attempt to keep peace through the World Jewish Congress. Trying to flee in disguise in May 1945 he was caught by the British and admitted his identity. When a doctor searched him to make sure he did not have poison hidden, he bit down on a capsule hidden in his mouth and was dead. He chose suicide as his way to leave this world.
A speech by Himmler on October fourth 1943: "I am talking about the evacuation of the Jews. The extermination of the Jewish people. It is one of those things that is easily said. The Jewish people are being exterminated. Every party member will tell you perfectly clear it’s part of our plans. We are exterminating the Jews, exterminating them, a small matter."
