Heinrich Himmler was known as a sickly and unimpressive man. He dream one day of becoming a soldier but instead he became one of the worst mass murders in history. Next to Hitler, he was the most powerful man in nazi Germany. Under his command the S.S grew to be the most powerful and civil organization during World War 2. |

Reinchsfuhrer- SS head of Gestapo and Waffen-SS Minister of the Interior from 1943-1945 and organizer of mass murder of Jews in the Third Reich. Himmler was born in Munich on October.7, 1900. He was second of three sons. He was born into a middle class catholic family. |

Heinrich Himmler was often sick when he was a kid. He nearly died of lung infection when he was four years old. He attended secondary school at Landshut. His Father was headmaster. He served as a officer cadet in Eleventh Bavarian Regiment. He enrolled in the agriculture program at Munich. He received a diploma in1922. |

It was when he was in college that he began displaying anti-Jewish feelings. He wrote in his diary that Jews should be excluded from college clubs.

In 1926 he became assistant propaganda leader of the Nazi Party.

In 1928 he married Margarete Concerzowo, who was a polish nurse. They raised hens and sold produce while he continued his Nazi Party activities. A daughter named Gudrun was born in1929. They also adopted a son later in life. |

He was granted with honor of Reinchsfuhrer to S.S in 1929. He was appointed head of Hilter’s personal bodyguard known as the black-shirted Schutzstaffel. He made the S.S carried out anything Hilter ordered including punishment and murder of “enemies of the state.” He expanded the SS bodyguard from 280 to around 50,000 cold-blooded members by 1933. |

The turning point of his career was on June 30, 1934, his master minding of the purge. He smashed the power of the SA and made the way for the emergence of the SS as independent organization.

He became head of Gestapo in June of 1936 by winning control of the political and criminal police through the third Reich.

When the first concentration camp was sent up in Dachau, he gave orders to torture and kill millions of “enemies of the state.” The Jews were the cause of too much trouble in Europe. Himmler said “ Just as the Americans got rid of the Indians, so the Germans must get rid of the Jews.” |

Gangs of SS soldiers dressed in black caps, armbands with black borders and black boots went through ghettos. The ghettos had many Jews. They rapped robbed murdered and sent them to concentration camps. The pure German person Himmler saw was a tall, blond, and blue eye. |

In October 1939, Hitler appointed Himmler Reichskommissar fur die Festigung des Deutschen Volkstums and was given complete control over annexed of Poland. |

The Final Solution came in 1941 when Himmler received the order to begin. The Final Solution was the Nazi code for the complete elimination of Jews. The Final Solution meant rounding up Jews, transporting them to Poland, and organizing them into labor gangs at the camps. The Final Solution wanted the camp conditions to be bad that the Jews would die. Those to old or young to work would be killed.

In 1942 Himmler and 15 top Nazis agreed upon terms of the Final Solution. He didn’t want the killings to be photographed because “in time of war” executions are unfortunately necessary. Money raised for was efforts, he ordered gold teeth be removed from prisoners.

Towards the end of war Himmler made friendly gestures that he hoped Allies would overlook his past and put him in charge of new Germany without Hitler. |

In 1944 he tried to conceal the evidence of mass murders. He permitted transfer of hundred of prisoners to Sweden. He proposed surrending to General Eisenhower in the west. His attempt to reach agreement with the allies failed, which resulted in Hilter stripping him of all his ranks and offices. |

In May 1945 while disguised as a low ranking soldier he assumed false identity. He tried to escape; he was captured by British troops. He committed suicide before he could be brought to trail, as one of major was criminals. He died May 23, 1945 15 minutes after he bit into a cyanide capsule. He was buried in a secret grave near a British interrogation camp near Luneburg, Germany. |
