He was born around the 1830's in the Great Plains of the United States. He died on Beecher Island in 1868. The white troops admired his courage and his

leadership qualities and his bold tactics and seemingly impenetrable demeanor made him something of a legend in the Native American conflicts with the white

men.

    Roman Nose and his horse.

He was a prominent southern Cheyenne warrior best remembered for his key role in on going battles against the white men in the west in the 1860's. He was

one of the several American Indian war societies compose of the embittered Indians. He raided the settlement on the Oregon trail the most out of the Indians.

He was a contemporary of Dull Knife was not as strong of Character as the others and he was incline to be pompous and boastful. He was true type of Native

American in spirited and bravery.

A hat of one of the dead men was off and although he had heavy hair and a beard, the top of the men's head was bald from the fore head up that men was his.

first kill. So as custom required such a deed to be announced by the chief  on the spot he yelled with his Ropiest voice." Your Roman Nose has counted the first coup on the longest faced white men who was ever killed." That was his first coup of his life at his first battle against the white men in the great state of Nebraska.

Roman Nose

On July 24, 1865, at Platter Bridge at the state of Nebraska, came Roman Nose to his first battle against the white men. He led a huge number of Cheyenne-Sioux expedition that annunciated an entire U.S. cavalry Column. In the same battle the magic of his war bonnet protected him when his horse got shoot underneath and he came out of the battle without a stitch on his body after he did not have his horse. They before the battle a Indian named White Bull warned him not to touch no metal to his lips and while he was reloading his six gun held bullet in his mouth because that his  brother died in the same battle and his friend died to his name was High Backed Wolf  if he did not touch the bullet to his mouth his friend and his  brother may not of died.

He had a lot of unflinching faith in the protective power of his war bonnet given to him by an old man named White Bull. So he had to follow a strict set of rules one of them was not to eat food that had contact with a metal, a white man's object a other was not to touch metal with his lips.

His most powerful medicine was his magnificent headdress he wore into battle it was made of one buffalo horn and one long trail of red and a black eagle feather it was believed to have absolute protective powers like could process a hypnotic power over his enemies and he immune to bullets. He believe that as long as he wore the bonnet and adhered to strict set of rules of conduct would protect him.

Before the battle of Beecher Island the Cheyenne and the Sioux  Indians had a big feast in the feast a Sioux woman stirred his food with a metal spoon and she put his bread on a skillet with a iron spoon. Before the battle he could till that he was weaken. They he was arrived late for the battle field. They had a attacked a grouped of  scooters under the brilliant officer General Forsythe, thought it would be and easy task but it was. The first attracted  failed but they he entrenched them on a little island. They he approached the sand bar and he did his tact they he was shoot and he was died.

Roman Nose was one of the great Indian leader against the white men. He was a great help for the Indians in the war against the white men. If he was not killed in Beecher Island they the Indians would have a better chance of beating the white men in the war.
